A DPD integration
shops install themselves
DPD needed a simple way to connect its shipping services with WooCommerce online shops. We built a plugin, and DPD made it available to its customers directly in the WordPress repository.
The shop books shipping directly in WooCommerce and gets the label back on the order. We have maintained and developed the plugin since 2022.

A plugin DPD gives its customers
The courier company wanted a tool its customers could add to their own online shops, one that would save them retyping data between systems.
We built a plugin that connects WooCommerce with DPD and automates shipping. DPD then made it available free of charge to its customers in the official WordPress repository.
That changed the nature of the whole brief. Hundreds of other people's online shops would install the plugin, in environments we have no control over.
This isn't a website. It's a product.
Shipping data sends itself
The shop creates the shipment directly in WooCommerce, picks a DPD service, and the plugin sends the data to the carrier's system. The shipping label comes back to the order.

The shop does not have to retype data between systems or handle shipping outside its admin. DPD also sees orders created by the plugin in its own application.
Nobody retypes shipment data by hand.
Shipping happens where the orders already are
The plugin does not add yet another place to log in to. It works in the order list that the shop's staff open anyway.

Orders can be edited before export and exported in three ways: one at a time, in bulk from the list, or from the order detail. With larger volumes of parcels, bulk export alone saves hours of work.
The shop handles shipping inside WooCommerce.
Features shaped by real use
The plugin did not stop at a single export. Since 2022, it has become a tool that covers a shop's everyday work with shipping.

Weight-based pricing
Calculates shipping from the weight of the products in the basket.

Customers choose their pickup point
One of the larger features added after launch is choosing a pickup point right in the shop's basket.

When ordering, customers find a DPD partner outlet or a self-service locker by town and postcode. The chosen location carries over to the order, so the shop does not need to add it anywhere.
Publicly available and actively used
The plugin sits in the official WordPress repository and installs like any other plugin. According to WordPress.org, more than 700 online shops use it today.

A public repository also means public support. We handle users' technical requests directly in the plugin's forum, respond to reviews and keep checking compatibility with new versions of WordPress.
It installs like any other plugin.
Compatibility is work that never ends
WordPress and WooCommerce release new versions all the time. A plugin running in hundreds of other people's shops has to keep up with them.
Since 2022, we have looked after the plugin as a long-term product: technical support, fixes and ongoing compatibility updates. There have been 32 releases since the first version, and the plugin keeps growing.
This is where a product running in other people's environments differs most from a website. Any shop that has installed the plugin can report a bug, and we do not know most of them personally.
A plugin is finished only until the next update.
The product is DPD's. The tech is ours
DPD remains the product owner and decides its direction and priorities. We look after the technical side and keep proposing what the plugin could do better.
Analysing the request
We analysed the API documentation at the start, and we do it again for every new feature.
Design and development
We design each new feature to fit into the existing plugin.
Testing and release
We test before every release, because hundreds of online shops download the update at once.
The client steers the product. We vouch for the tech.
From integration to long-term product
DPD has a tool it can give to every contract customer with a WooCommerce shop, without building an individual integration for each one.
Online shops have shipping handled within their own admin, and a plugin that keeps up with new versions of WordPress and WooCommerce. The project continues. When a new requirement comes up, we solve its technical side and prepare the next release.
Build an integration once and give it to every customer.
DPD does not have to sort out shipping with each shop separately. It has a product for that, and we maintain it. Tell us what you would like to automate.

We reply within 24 hours.
