A new online shop
without a pause in sales
DNA ERA sells genetic tests that customers order to their homes. We turned Studio 001's design into a working online shop for the Slovak and Czech markets.
We built the shop, launched it and are still developing it today.

Redesigning a shop that kept selling
When the original shop was no longer enough, our partner Studio 001 designed its new look. We joined the project during the design workshops, advising on the technical side and proposing improvements to the solution.
Our brief was to turn the design into a working online shop for both the Slovak and Czech markets. The shop kept selling throughout, so we planned the switch to the new version so that customers would barely notice it.
You can't switch off and rebuild a shop that is selling.
A component system instead of one-off pages
We built the design in Elementor as a system of templates and components from which the whole shop is assembled.
DNA ERA now builds its own campaign and content pages from ready-made elements, and the look stays consistent.

A campaign page shouldn't have to wait for a developer.
Two markets from day one
From launch, the shop served both the Slovak and Czech markets. We added Czech koruna alongside the euro so customers pay in a currency they know.
The CardPay gateway handles payments in both currencies and Superfaktúra takes care of invoicing. Along the way, we also fixed a broken newsletter plugin.
And from the start, we built the solution so that more language versions could be added.

Hardest part: the live database
While the new version was being built, the old one kept selling. Orders, customers and discount codes kept coming in.
We had to merge the new database with the live one. We migrated more than 30,000 discount codes so they would keep working for customers after the switch.
We planned the launch so that sales never had to stop.

Customers shouldn't notice the foundations changing.
From two language versions to seven
The partnership did not end with the redesign. As DNA ERA expanded, more language versions followed. The shop's foundations allowed for this from the start.
Language versions today
Slovak
Czech
English
Hungarian
Polish
Romanian
Serbian
Orders now come in from the app too
DNA ERA has since developed its own mobile app. We did not build it. Our job was to prepare the shop for the new sales channel.
DNA ERA app
developed by the client in-house
API layer
WooCommerce adapted to take orders from outside
E-commerce backend
orders from both the website and the app
The existing solution remained the core of sales even after the new channel was added. Every order ends up in one system.
A new sales channel doesn't have to mean a new system.
One partnership from design to operation
We joined during the design phase, carried on with the build and stayed with the shop after launch.
“Thank you for a great partnership that began when the website was being created, continued through implementation and carries on to this day. We are especially grateful that you are always willing to help, advise and think through how a problem could be solved efficiently and as quickly as possible.”
A growing firm, a growing shop
After the redesign, DNA ERA kept expanding and the shop had to keep pace.
We handle new languages, campaigns and the new sales channel on the existing foundations.
More language versions
The shop has grown from Slovak and Czech to seven languages.
Development and support
We keep extending the shop and provide technical support as sales require.
New sales channel
We adapted WooCommerce to accept headless orders from the client's app.
A sales channel needs looking after after delivery, too.
One shop, seven languages,
two sales channels
A redesign for the Slovak and Czech markets has become a shop that grows alongside DNA ERA.
Marketing builds its own pages, customers pay in their own currency, and a single backend serves both the website and the app.
We still look after the technical side of the shop today.
Technical solution
We chose the technologies for what the shop needed: pages marketing can build on its own, payments in euros and koruna, and room for more languages.
Platform
WordPress
The foundation of the solution, where both the content and the shop are managed.
WooCommerce
The e-commerce layer for products, orders and discount codes.
Elementor
A system of templates and components from which the client builds content pages.
Integrations
CardPay
Payment gateway for payments in euros and Czech koruna.
Superfaktúra
Order invoicing connected directly to the shop.
Marketing tools
HubSpot, HotJar, plus Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics.
Further development
Multilingual
Seven language versions, added as the company expanded.
Headless orders
A customised WooCommerce API accepts orders from DNA ERA's own app.
Data migration
At launch, we merged the new database with the live one, so customers' discount codes kept working.
More e-commerce projects
A shop can grow without starting over.
We switched DNA ERA to the new version while the shop was fully trading, and later opened it up to orders from the company's own app. If you are facing a similar step, we will work through it with you before the first line of code.
