Inherited project,
seen through to launch
Nivy brings together a bus station, a shopping centre and services in one place. Its website has just as many layers.
We joined the project for HB Reavis in its technical phase, took over the work in progress and stayed with the site after launch.

A site for a place that never stops
Nivy is a bus station, a shopping centre, a market hall and a green roof with events, all at once. Each of these roles has its own content and its own visitors on the website.
A traveller looks for the next bus departure; a visitor looks for opening hours or an event on the roof. The website has to serve both at the same time.

Wide-branching content was the core of the brief.
We joined a project
that was already under way
The early phases of the project were delivered by another company. We took over the work in progress with a clear task: give development a direction and see it through to the end.

live operation and further development
Beyond the code, we also had to set up a way of working, testing environments and a clear process for deploying changes.
Taking over a project in progress means taking responsibility for its outcome.
Changes need a safe route to the site
We created several environments so changes could be tested internally and with the client before they reached visitors.
Automated code deployment sped up the work and made it simpler to move changes between environments. Every change followed the same route from development to production.
Where new features are built.
We check every change ourselves first.
The client sees and approves changes before deployment.
Changes move between environments with no manual steps.
On a project of this size, development alone is not enough.
Bus departures in real time
Travellers search for a connection on the website and see current departures from each bay. The data comes from an integration with an external service.
Luigi's Box provides fast, accurate search across the content. The site is also ready to connect to further external services.

Content that changes every minute cannot wait for an editor.
The client can see every task
From the start, we set up detailed project management so both sides always knew what was happening and what came next.
We were in daily contact with the client by message, held a weekly status call and managed tasks in a project system with four priority levels, which the client had access to.
“What I value most is the attitude that nothing is a problem. Thanks to project management in Asana, we have a clear overview of the status of tasks. When an urgent problem comes up, Boris is always very accommodating and fixes the bug promptly. You took on the project very professionally, and I feel I can rely on you.”

After launch came an affiliate system
Launch was not the end of the project. After the main portal went live, the client came to us with a request for an extensive affiliate system.
We built a dedicated product page and reusable components that can be used directly in the content.
Editors can insert a specific product or a product slider into an article without putting it together from scratch every time.
A well-built foundation carries requirements that came after the brief.
Partners of HB Reavis since 2016
The Nivy website is one of the projects in our long-term partnership with the group.
For HB Reavis, we have gradually delivered a corporate website, an intranet and websites for other projects.
Further site development
The affiliate system and new features were added after launch, as the client needed them.
More projects
The corporate website, the intranet and the websites of other projects in the group.
A stable team
The client deals with people who have known the project since the handover.
The team that launched the site still develops it.
A site that met a demanding brief and kept growing
A project in progress became a live website that serves travellers and visitors to the centre every day.
We took on technical responsibility, set up development and environments, connected the site to external services and, after launch, extended it with an affiliate system.
We stayed on the project after launch and keep developing it to the client's needs.
Technical solution
These decisions brought the project we took over to launch, and they carry its further development too.
The foundation
OctoberCMS
A CMS extended with features built specifically for the project.
Vue.js
Front end for dynamic content, such as bus departures and product sliders.
Product components
Reusable elements such as a product or a product slider, right inside an article.
Data and integrations
Bus connection search
Integration of an external service with current departures from each bay.
Luigi's Box
Fast, accurate search across the content of the whole website.
Other external services
The site's architecture allows for connections to further external systems.
Operation and further development
Several environments
Separate development, internal testing and client testing.
Automated deployment
Changes travel between environments without manual steps.
Affiliate system
A dedicated product page and components, added after launch.
More long-term partnerships
No need to scrap a half-built project and start over.
