How we took on the via ferrata
Good food, shared activities, a via ferrata, our own app and a great time with colleagues. That's our Webikon retreat.

How we took on the via ferrata
When the whole lockdown situation started, nothing changed for us as a company. Working from home isn't new to us; in fact, it's the only way of working we know. But we used to meet up often at our favourite events. These included Webikon days, where we review the past period, plan our next strategies, discuss our processes and share personal experiences and plans too.
What we missed most was not being able to see each other at the Webikon retreat, our regular dose of shared experiences. In 2021 we managed it! We stayed at a cabin in the hills above Martin, which gave us a hideaway for our brainstorming sessions and team activities.

“Relaxation combined with activities that exceeded my expectations of how well our team can work together.”
We built an app and relaxed
As the saying goes: “Work first, play later.” Once we were finally together, we also went over our ongoing projects. The icing on the cake was a competition to build a chat app, which both teams managed to get working within the five hours allotted.
We treated ourselves to some well-earned relaxation every evening: barbecues, easy conversation, a few beers, Xbox and board games.

“We can all work efficiently from our own desks, but get-togethers like this matter to us, and they always lead to something new.”
We took on a via ferrata and go-karts
We didn't skip our favourite adrenaline activities either. Getting up in the morning was hard, but a few brave souls set off to explore the Martin via ferrata. It was no walk in the park, but we're up for any challenge. Beautiful views awaited us, and we admired nature's handiwork all the way. Getting back down was courtesy of some lethal machines: souped-up scooters.

Our team's competitive spirit showed itself once again, and the next activity let us shine as individuals. We did several laps on go-karts and enjoyed it so much that we went back for more the next day.

“I got to know my colleagues better than I ever could by exchanging a few words on Hangouts.”
The retreat was drawing to a close, and we left with a good feeling about the time we'd spent together. We rounded it off with proper steaks and burgers from Habanero in Vrútky.
