Getting started

**Which companies and projects are you right for?**

We have the most experience with mid-sized and large companies and institutions. We have worked for banks, property developers, media and e-commerce businesses. We help with new projects as well as with solutions that already run and need further development or reliable operation.

**Do you also do SEO and marketing?**

Partly. We take care of technical SEO and the basic set-up of the website for search engines. We leave content and marketing strategy to agencies that specialise in it, and we are happy to work with them.

**Can you advise us on which technical solution is right for us?**

Yes. You don’t need to come with a finished technical design. We look at the project’s goals, existing systems, how it will be used and how it is expected to grow. Based on that we propose a technical solution and explain why we think it fits.

**Do we need a precise idea of what we want?**

No. If you have a problem or a goal but don’t yet know how to solve it technically, we’ll help you decide what to do next. Together we separate what is needed now from what can wait.

**Can you help us shape the project before development starts?**

Yes. For larger or less clearly defined projects we can start with analysis, a UX/UI design and a technical specification. Development then works from a more clearly defined scope and set of priorities.

**Will you help us decide what goes into the first version and what can wait?**

Yes. On larger projects we help set priorities so that the first version is useful straight after launch and also a good foundation for further development.

**We already have a finished design. Can you handle just the development?**

Yes. We can build a website from a design you supply. Before development we go through it, and if anything is missing, such as the mobile layout or the states of forms and buttons, we add it. We agree every design change with you first. That is how we built the [website for ZmudriG](/en/projects/zmudrig/), for example.

Price and timing

**How much does a website, online shop or app cost?**

A simple company website starts at €3,000. For larger solutions the price depends on the scope, functionality, integrations and operational requirements. First we go through what the solution needs to do, then we prepare an estimate of scope and price. On larger projects we split the work into phases, so it is clear what you are paying for and what each step will deliver.

**How long does a project take?**

We can deliver a simple company website in 2–4 weeks, depending on how quickly we have the materials. Larger websites and online shops usually take months, and extensive applications can take longer. The exact time depends on the type and scope of the project, so at the start we set a realistic scope, priorities and plan.

How we work together

**How does working together work?**

Each project has its own project manager, and we work in regular cycles. We keep you informed about tasks, priorities and results, so you know what we are working on and what comes next. We adapt the way we work to the type of project and what it needs.

**What if we have an in-house IT team?**

We can add to it. We can take over a specific part of the project, provide extra capacity or act as the technology partner for the whole project. We set the scope of the partnership according to what you already cover in-house.

**Can you work with our existing systems and suppliers?**

Yes. Digital projects rarely start from a blank slate. We integrate existing ERP, CRM, e-commerce, payment and other systems, and work with other suppliers where needed.

**Can you take over an existing project from another supplier?**

Yes. We start by analysing the existing website, app or other solution. We look at the state of the code, the architecture, the infrastructure and how it is run. Then we propose what is worth keeping, fixing or developing further.

**Can you review code written by someone else or by AI?**

Yes. In a code review we go through security, performance, architecture and best practice, whether the code was written by another supplier, your own team or an AI tool. For more demanding projects we also recommend an external security audit by a third party. You will find more on the [Support and maintenance](/en/services/support-and-maintenance/#revizia-kodu) page.

**Does an existing project have to be rebuilt from scratch?**

No. If the existing solution works and has a sound technical foundation, there is no reason to replace all of it. First we find the biggest problems and the areas worth improving, and only then do we propose next steps.

Technology and AI

**What technologies do you use?**

We work mainly with PHP, JavaScript and TypeScript. Depending on the project we use, for example, Laravel, React, Next.js, React Native, WordPress or WooCommerce. For AI integrations we also work with models from OpenAI and Anthropic. We choose technology to fit the project, not the other way round.

**Will the website be accessible to people with disabilities?**

Yes. We design and build websites in line with the WCAG guidelines, so that people with visual or motor impairments can use them too. For online shops and many online services, accessibility has also been a legal requirement since 28 June 2025. We cover this in more detail in the article [Web accessibility](/en/blog/web-accessibility/).

**Does our project need AI?**

Not necessarily. We start with the problem the technology is meant to solve. If AI genuinely helps solve it, we’ll suggest where to use it. If not, we won’t add it to the project just because it is fashionable.

Domain and hosting

**Where and how do I get a domain?**

You register a domain with a domain registrar, usually a hosting company. First check on the registrar’s website whether the name you want is available. We recommend registering the domain in your company’s name so that it stays your property. If you can’t decide on a name or a registrar, we’ll advise you.

**What is hosting and how do I choose it?**

Hosting is the server your website runs on and loads from for visitors. The right choice depends on the type of website, traffic, performance requirements, backups and the availability of support. A simple company presentation is fine on standard web hosting; an online shop or an app needs more. We’ll recommend a solution based on what your project actually needs.

**Can you arrange hosting for me?**

Yes. The website can run on our servers, which dozens of clients use, or we can recommend a trusted provider. We only recommend companies we have long, good experience with and where we manage several websites. We can also look after hosting as part of [support and maintenance](/en/services/support-and-maintenance/).

After launch

**What happens after the project launches?**

After launch we can take care of operation, maintenance, monitoring, technical support and further development of the solution. You don’t need to find another partner for every change or problem.

**Why does a website still need care after launch?**

A website runs on technologies that keep evolving. Updates to the CMS, extensions and the server come out regularly, and many of them fix security vulnerabilities. Without them a website becomes more vulnerable and slower, and over time it may stop behaving as it should. That is why we monitor, update, back up and test websites. You will find more on the [Support and maintenance](/en/services/support-and-maintenance/) page.

**What happens if the website stops working or gets hacked?**

If we look after your website, monitoring picks up any outage or suspicious behaviour and we start dealing with it straight away. We take a compromised website offline so it cannot send anything, find the cause and restore it from a backup. We keep you informed about what is happening and what comes next. We prevent the risk with regular updates, monitoring and backups.

**Can we change the website content after launch?**

Yes. You can edit texts, images, articles and new pages yourself in the CMS. If you prefer, we’ll make the changes for you or show you how to do it.

**Will I be able to work with the website once you hand it over?**

Yes. We set up the editing environment so that someone without technical knowledge can manage it. At handover we show it to you and explain the common edits. We recommend leaving system updates, installing extensions and changes to the code to us, so that the website stays stable and secure.

**Will I depend on Webikon once the project is delivered?**

No. We build solutions so that you are not needlessly tied to one supplier. The code and data remain your property, and when choosing the technology we also allow for further development or a change of supplier.

First contact

**What should I prepare for the initial consultation?**

It helps us to know what you want the project to achieve, who it is for, what problems it should solve, and whether an existing solution or systems need to be kept and connected. You don’t need a technical specification ready. If you have a deadline or a budget in mind, tell us. We’ll go through the rest together. You will find more in the article [How to prepare for the initial consultation](/en/blog/how-to-prepare-for-an-initial-consultation/).

**How do I get in touch?**

Write to us through the contact form or at [hello@webikon.sk](mailto:hello@webikon.sk). We’ll get back to you and arrange an initial consultation where we go through your project and next steps.
